All Named Contributions are pooled into the Northern Legacy Fund, enabling the Yellowknife Community Foundation to allocate resources effectively and address the territory’s most pressing needs each year.
Collectively, these contributions strengthen and sustain the Northern Legacy Fund, supporting communities by providing grants to organizations that work to improve local well-being.

Your Named Contribution is managed and invested with full transparency and accountability, ensuring that it is used effectively to make a difference.
Your story will be showcased on our website with a dedicated, permanent page for your Named Contribution, among further recognition based on your giving level.
Each year, essentially forever, your Named Contribution will enable sustainable grantmaking to community organizations across the territory.
Individual donors receive a charitable tax receipt for their contribution, which can be used to reduce your taxable income. Businesses can write off contributions as a business expense, offering potential tax benefits as well.
Available giving tiers
We offer 5 giving tiers, each with a minimum contribution requirement and increasing recognition opportunities. These tiers are open to individuals, families, organizations, and businesses:
- Visionary: Minimum $5,000, and available only for individuals and families
- Silver: Minimum $15,000
- Gold: Minimum $50,000
- Platinum: Minimum $150,000
- Diamond: Minimum $250,000

Corporate sponsorship opportunity
Businesses and organizations can also choose to sponsor the Yellowknife Community Foundation and receive additional visibility through event exposure, our calendar, newsletter, social media, and website.
Emerging Named Contribution
Anyone can also set up an Emerging Named Contribution. This requires a minimum gift of $1,000, and donors have three years to reach the minimum amount for their chosen giving tier.
